Sheep training course – Questions & Answers
Can my sheep learn this?
- Yes. The course is made for everyday sheep owners who want calmer handling and safer daily care.
- It works especially well for sheep that are shy, nervous, hard to catch or worried about touching and hoof trimming – because we train below the fear threshold and build trust step by step.
Do I need experience in animal training?
No.
- The course starts from the very beginning and shows each step clearly.
- You simply watch a short lesson, try it with your own sheep, and continue when you’re ready.
- And if something feels unclear – you can ask me directly.
Is this clicker training?
No.
- This course teaches the simplest way to use rewards in everyday care – without clickers, special tools or complicated rules.
- The goal is calm, practical cooperation, not tricks.
- Using rewards the right way
Many sheep owners already use food rewards – which is great. But if the reward comes at the wrong moment, the sheep can accidentally learn things we didn’t intend, such as:
- begging / mugging
- pushing into pockets
- getting excited and losing focus
- moving instead of standing still
In this course, you’ll learn when to reward and what to reward, so treats build calm behaviour and cooperation – instead of creating new problems.
How long does the course take?
- You move at your own pace.
- The course includes six topic-based videos, about three hours in total.
- It’s a compact, practical package: you watch real training with my clear voice-over guidance.
- Some sheep learn faster, others slower – both are normal.
How long do I have access?
- Your access to the course does not expire.
- You can return to the lessons whenever you need a reminder.
What if my sheep are very afraid?
- That’s exactly why this course exists.
- You’ll learn how to recognise fear early, slow down, change the environment and build safety again – without pushing your sheep over its limits.
- And if you feel stuck, you can show me what happens – and I’ll help you adjust.
Is this course only for sheep owners?
No.
- The videos show sheep, but the same principles work for many other animals – like goats, alpacas and llamas.
- The goal is the same: calm, low-stress handling and care, using rewards in a simple way.
What kind of support do I get?
When you join, you also get access to a private Facebook group for students.
The group is mainly a place where you can:
- ask questions about your own situation
- share short clips (if you want)
- get personal, practical advice directly from me
The group is still new and grows together with the course but it gives you a safe place to ask, and I’m there to help.
What will I be able to do after the course?
- put on the halter without chasing
- lead calmly on a loose rope
- tie safely, without panic
- handle and touch without struggle
- lift and trim feet with much less stress
Most importantly – your sheep understands what is happening and feels safer.
Is this for big production farms?
The course is designed for small flocks and hobby farms.
But the principles – less fear, more motivation, clear rewards – can inspire kinder, safer routines anywhere.
Is it worth the price?
You get the whole course for about the same cost as two visits from an animal trainer but you can watch it again whenever you need, and get personal support from me.
How will this affect the relationship between me and my sheep?
Most people notice a clear change.
When handling becomes calmer and more predictable, your sheep start to feel safer around you. They understand what is happening, they get more choices, and they are no longer pushed over their fear threshold.
